Work History

Postdoctoral Researcher

Oregon Health Sciences University
Portland, OR
01.2019 - 07.2025

In Dr. Kretzschmar’s lab, about half of my projects focused on identifying novel mechanisms that link sleep disruptions with the neuropathology of Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, I collaborated on large multidisciplinary projects focused on evaluating different botanicals for their potential to promote healthy aging. Leading to an independent project focused on evaluating whether Scutellaria lateriflora (American skullcap) extracts can improve resilience to age-related phenotypes in the Drosophila(fruit fly) model.·

  • Guided team members through laboratory experiments, enhancing understanding and execution.
  • Secured funding by drafting and submitting detailed grant proposals.
  • Prepared comprehensive manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Conducted independent research to test hypotheses, analyze results, and report findings.
  • Participated in interdisciplinary collaborations across departments and universities.
  • Studied correlations between sleep/circadian disruptions and their effects on aging and age-related neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Contributed to grant writing efforts to support ongoing project funding.
