I am currently a senior at the University of Miami pursuing a major in Health Sciences with the ultimate goal of becoming a physician. Keeping in mind that this will be a journey of twists and turns, I have learned to be persistent, organized, and manage my time wisely. Throughout my academic career, I not only excelled in school, but in extracurricular activities such as Cross country and track, honors society, and volunteer work at the hospital.
During high school, I was enrolled in a program known as academic challenge where I took University level courses in math and English. Meanwhile, I was a full-time varsity athlete in cross country and track and did local volunteer work through the national honors society program. I learned that staying organized and setting day to day agendas was my key to success. Eventually, the hard work payed off and I was awarded the Isaac Bashevis Singer scholarship which is a premier scholarship at the University of Miami. I have carried my acquired skills into college which has helped me excel with the pre-med coursework. The past two summers, I worked as an ER technician where I assisted nurses with EKGs, vitals, and restocking equipment in the ER. Last March, I also became involved in an organization known as MEDLIFE where I went on a mission trip and provided a service to the underserved communities of Lima, Peru. Currently, I work as a Research assistant at the KidZ Neuroscience Center with one of my prior professors on effective pedestrian curriculums and practices for children.
