Work History

Software Engineer III (App Development IT)

Sierra Space (Aerospace and Defense)
12.2022 - Current

Full time remote team member and Product manager, developer, and techinical administrator for all IBM and SmartBear applications:

  • Created processes for daily license usage reporting to analyze license quantities that better suit the needs of engineering. Saved around 1 million dollars compared to previous licensing agreements.
  • Created a floating license optimizer script in Python to run on a schedule and automate logging off Code Collaborator users that have been idle for a set amount of time. Greatly improved license availability and allowed more users for less licenses.
  • Successfully managed, worked with, and budgeted for IBM business partner consultants to perform in place upgrades for all IBM applications. This added much needed stability, new features and full IBM support.
  • Provide real time product support for engineers and developed new automation and tools to support and innovate code review, requirements management, and model based engineering activities.
  • Collaborate consistently with cyber security and internal compliance on vulnerability remediation activities and best administrative practices concerning CUI sensitive data and application access, ensuring successful audits for the business.

Software Engineer II (Engineering IT)

Sierra Space (Aerospace and Defense)
04.2022 - 12.2022

Remote team member contracted through Actalent:

  • Developed and improved upon various DXL scripts to better streamline and automate Rational DOORS database operations, such as custom Microsoft excel report exports, automated linking, and dialog box interfaces to improve processes for Systems Engineering teams.
  • Developed and improved upon various Rational Publishing Engine templates to quickly automate and improve reliability for the releases for official specifications that are released in a Windchill product lifecycle management system.
  • Organized daily stand-up meetings between departments of systems engineers, database administrators, and consultants for status reports and action plans to set expectations and meet deadlines for an IT network Separation of IBM application servers.
  • Authored user acceptance testing procedures for DOORS databases and coordinated testing of them to validate a DOORS Server network migration.
  • Troubleshot, updated, recompiled, and verified various IBM automation tools, such as Rhapsody java apps, publishing templates, and DXL scripts to ensure their continued use on a new network.

Software Engineer (Manufacturing/Automation Industry)

Commercial Timesharing Inc.
05.2020 - 02.2022

Responsible for software development of Tire Uniformity Optimizer Machine Controllers that utilize a customized Gentoo Linux OS.

  • Performed R&D for a 3D modeling program and user interface utilizing a C implementation of OpenGL and GTK respectively. Software reconstructs 3d models of tires from data captured by machine laser systems for vast advancements in visual inspection. Average performance was between 40-60 FPS on Siemens computers with integrated graphics chips for a full 4k tire model.
  • Web development using PHP and Ext JavaScript for remote access to the machine controller.
  • Interfacing with various SQLite3 databases for configuration data of the machine controller.
  • Allen Bradley ladder logic PLC software for interfacing with variable frequency drives and servo drives that control mechanical parts such as conveyor belts and load wheels.
  • Siemens touchscreen software development for manual control of machine motors to facilitate maintenance and inspection activities for plant operators.
  • Drafted and maintained AutoCAD Electrical drawings for circuitry and cable connections that power and run Tire Uniformity Optimizer machines.
  • Traveled to Goodyear tire plants in Fayetteville, NC, and Lawton, OK to provide on-site support for software and hardware upgrades and machine startups.
  • Provided Remote support to tire plants to troubleshoot tire uniformity optimizers that were faulted or otherwise not performing properly.

Software/Hardware Engineering Intern

Safran Electrical and Power (Aerospace Industry)
06.2017 - 08.2019

Internships for Summer 2017, Spring 2018, Fall 2018 and Summer 2019:

  • Authored high-level requirements in a DOORS database for GCU embedded software to interface to an ARINC 429 chip.
  • Reviewed and qualified Embedded Generator Control source code against MISRA, DO178C, and internal software standards.
  • Collaborated with a remote team member located in Brazil to develop and test driver code for a Delfino microcontroller and a graphical multi-threaded Python app that can display diagnostic data from microcontroller serial data.
  • Ported and adjusted existing C code from a discontinued evaluation board to a currently available evaluation board, allowing more software engineers to test and develop the project's generator control unit software.
  • Authored and developed Pyton emulation test cases for embedded software on a legacy 8-bit AT89C51 series microcontroller to quickly and accurately verify that written software worked as intended.
  • Researched, designed, and drafted cable systems to properly and safely route the various electrical subsystems of a HIL_INVERTER.
  • Designed a circuit board layout to connect all the inverter subsystems to the main processing board of a HIL_INVERTER.
