Summary

My name is Daniel Brennan, and I am an experienced videographer and video editor with more than three years of work experience in the collegiate and professional sports industries. I have been the lead videographer for the UC Santa Cruz Athletics department since 2022, and I also do freelance video in the NBA, NBA G League, and other semi-pro leagues like the Drew League and the Venice Basketball League. I specialize in on-court videography, as well as post-producing highlight reels and event recap videos. I have a full Sony cinema camera rig as well as a drone that I use while in the field shooting, and I look to gain further experience working with a professional sports organization like the Santa Cruz Warriors in relation to filming entertaining content and managing social media workflow.

Work History

Lead Videographer for Athletics & Recreation

University of California, Santa Cruz
04.2022 - Current
  • This job consists of attending athletic events at UC Santa Cruz, filming them, and then creating highlight reels to be posted on the school's social media pages. I am responsible for both shooting the footage and color grade it, then creating original edits using Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • This job has taught me valuable communication skills with both coworkers and athletes, networking skills, and in-the-field experience that I look to apply to this position with the SC Warriors.

Freelance Video for NBA G League Players

Freelance
03.2023 - 01.2024
  • This freelance venture consisted of me being paid by NBA G League players on the Santa Cruz Warriors to shoot video at their games and edit highlight mixes afterwards.
  • This was essential in teaching me how to communicate with professional athletes and organizations in a league I have been trying to work full time in for years. Living in Santa Cruz, working for the Warriors would be a dream come true!

On-court Videographer for the Venice Basketball League (Veniceball)

VENICEBALL
06.2023 - 08.2023
  • This job consisted of me attending basketball games from the Veniceball league on Venice Beach, filming them, then editing highlight reel content for the league's Instagram page. Much of this work was done with very quick turnaround times, teaching me important strategies for time management and professional efficiency.
  • I worked directly with the organizers of the league as well as social media managers to produce content and promote the league in the most effective way possible. This was a valuable experience for me, as I was able to connect with many likeminded videographers in the basketball space and truly discover my passion for teamwork in the sports video world. I look to take this same level of communication with me if I were to obtain this position.

On-Court Videographer for the Drew League

Drew League
06.2023 - 07.2023
  • This job consisted of working with a team in the Drew League (basketball) as their team videographer. I attended multiple weekends worth of games, captured game film from multiple different players, then made highlight reels for each player as well as full-team highlight videos.
  • This was an amazing experience for me, as I was able to film many NBA and G League players, and learn to film in a very hectic environment. Communicating with both coaches and players in order to create the best content possible was important in my development, as it taught me imperative strategies on how to communicate professionally in the basketball space.
