My responsibilities as a class 8 tractor and trailer mechanic is complete the task given for the diagnostic and repairs of general diesel engines, with drivetrain experience including, clutches, differential, wheel seals and brakes R&R. Air brakes systems diagnoses including, leaks, brake chambers, valve diagnostics. Also have experience in a variety of different types of suspension repairs including, king pin, spindle, tie rod, spring (air and leaf type) then also, the alignments once repairs are made. Also, the responsibility includes the repairs of electrical diagnostics and general repairs. The experience in the class 8 trailers also include, roof repairs, flooring repairs, electrical and also the diagnostic and repairs for the Air brake systems included on these class 8 trailer units. These tasks are given by supervisor and or, management to be completed in a timely manor and in a safe environment to ensure the satisfaction of our customers.
The work description as follows for the road tech position held including; All emergency type brake down repairs that occurred while companies were in route of transport. This would include tire dismount and mount onsite, Air brake diagnostic and repair, out of fuel, fuel filter renews, connecting a software to diagnose run-ability issues such as derate and or aftertreatment issue or any other factor that would occur, preventing the unit to run as directed. This was all completed under minimal supervision as the trust of the company to handle and complete all task given and move to the next. In this company, I held the Road-tech Lead position and handled all in coming calls to delegate each call to the specified person(s) allocated for a task given. This also meaning, not only delegations of incoming calls but also, being available to assist any tech under my leadership if task weren’t being completed as needed.
