Summary
Born into a Christian Korean Immigrant family, I spent much of my 10 years in the US moving from state to state and attending several elementary schools. This experience gave me a wide perspective on different classroom management and behavior management skills. In 2012, I moved to South Korea and experienced a completely different culture and language. I spent my middle and high school education in a public Korean education system. This experience in South Korea motivated me to pursue an education degree at Calvin and helped me understand multicultural/ELL students during my internships. I pray to become a teacher who helps his students become knowledgeable learners and students of faith within God's kingdom.

- I am currently doing my last placement in Calvin's education program at Excel Charter Academy
- I am currently in a 3rd-grade classroom
- I have done small group ELA since last Wednesday (1/29), and transitions to and from specials have mainly been done by me during these past few days
- I have built student-teacher relationships with 28 of my mentor teacher's third-grade students, and I have already developed a well-working environment with my mentor teacher
- I am excited to take part in a 3rd grade classroom for the first and learn more about how students learn
Teaching Phonics, 1st Grade

- A one-on-one tutoring session with first-grade students
- The tutoring session focused on teaching phonics
- Created a word wall to illustrate and showcase the students' favorite words during the span of the tutoring session
- My main goal was to help students understand letter sounds in the depths of phonics, including digraphs and diphthongs, using hands-on activities and grade-appropriate picture books

- EDUC-215 is a 4th-grade book club placement, focusing on reading grade-appropriate novels and vocabulary development
- Book clubs were held every Tuesday and Thursday
- Formative assessments were used at the beginning of every book club session
- An example of formative assessment used during book clubs included selecting the appropriate vocabulary word for the sentence, creating examples/non-examples, and understanding the flow of the story (including character motivation, character perspective, and cause and effect.
