Work History

Lead Painter

UC Davis
Davis, CA
07.2019 - Current
  • I've been employed by UC Davis since 2019. I started as a 3 month contract painter with no guarantee of having a career position. I was quickly noticed by my superiors that my technique and experience in the trades was an asset to the team. At the end of the 3 months I was called in to the superintendents office and offered a career job which I accepted. I became led painter in less than a year and took a shop that had no direction to a whole new level. I quickly learned the strengths and weaknesses of all 13 crew member's to put them on jobs that they had knowledge and the capabilities to be successful. The right man for the job as I would say. The personalities was a bit of a challenge at first but once I figured out everyone's unique personalities the led role became second nature on how to communicate with the crew to get them to work clean and efficient.
  • I accomplished multiple tasks with tight deadlines and at times running 100 jobs simultaneously to keep up with the busy workloads of such a big campus with over 13 million square feet of space that the paint shop would maintain.
  • I have to keep constant communication with Project Managers, Outside contractors, Customers, Foreman,My Crew and all the other trades working in the same area to keep on schedule for all the projects running at the same time.
  • We deal with a lot of AAALAC inspections in animal facilities that we have to keep up on.
  • I am Lead certified, Asbestos certified, areial and scissor lift certified, along with all the other UC required training. I also am on top of my crew members expiring certifications and get them trained so they are not out of compliance.
  • I was in charge of doing all the painting estimates for labor and materials while making deals with the vendors to get the best possible pricing to stay within budgets.
  • Evaluated employees' strengths and assigned tasks based upon experience and training.
  • Delivered feedback to decision-makers regarding employee performance and training needs.
  • Oversaw high profile projects by planning, designing, and scheduling phases.
  • Provided accurate, detailed quantity take-offs from project drawings and technical specifications.
  • Coordinated daily activity and flow of projects through multiple departments to verify on-time product delivery.
  • Adhered to industry practices, company standards and safety protocols working closely with the Safety department when there was are of concern in certain environment's.
  • Modeled management and organizational skills and multi-tasked and prioritized in deadline-driven environment.

Painter

Bay Area Rapid Transit BART

  • Prepared surfaces and surrounding areas for painting using sandpaper, tape and other materials.
  • Operated power sprayers and hand tools to prepare and paint for large areas.
  • Prepared rail cars for paint and painted them.
  • I worked on the trackway with moving trains and I had to go through extensive training For Bart and Cal Train to work along their respective trackways.
