• Directly supervise, train and mentor six Safety Coordinators and one Area Safety Manager
• Conducts periodic on-site safety inspections, analyzing work practices to determine safe and efficient methods of performing work
• Determines corrective or preventative means and methods where indicated and follows up to ensure they have been implemented
• Documents information in relevant reports and analyzes data to make control and improvement recommendation(s)
• Partners with local office management and project teams in identifying potential safety issues and setting direction affecting overall safety performance for an assigned operating unit or company
• Oversees a Region’s injury and claims management as needed to include, but not limited to; developing injury / illness treatment protocol; staying abreast of latest status of injuries and claims and management of OSHA record keeping
• Ensures all safety policies and procedures comply with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations
• Oversees and helps coordinate the Region’s delivery of training programs for managers, supervisors and field employees when required and develops new training programs as needed
• Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested by Safety Directors
• Reports directly to and maintains open communication with a Regional Safety Director
• Advise Project Teams during pre-construction meetings on all matters related to Site Safety
• Attend all pre-construction meetings with Site Management and General Contractors
• Attend all crane pre-planning meetings and present during erections, dismantles or jumping
• Utilize analytics to advise Management teams on leading and lagging indicators

• Manage the safety program for a construction company with approximately 225 employees
• Directly supervise five safety coordinators
• Oversee injury case management collaborating directly with workers compensation insurance providers and health care providers
• Update company management and owners of injuries, safety related incidents, and completed training
• Audit and update safety policies and procedures to ensure that they are working and aligned with best practices
• Work with field supervision and hands to provide relevant best practices and training
• Provide continuing education, training, and evaluations for safety coordinators
• Work with field supervision on creation of JHAs
• Manage and update required information on several third-party compliance websites
• (ISNetworld, Vero, Verisource, NCMS)
• Manage OSHA logs
• Help create and write company policies and procedures
• Conduct hiring of new employees, as well as new hire orientations
• Conduct onsite audits of work practices, conditions, OSHA compliance, and company policy compliance
• Write site specific safety procedures for tasks on jobs
• Conduct safety training on a wide range of topics
• Hold on-site safety meetings and toolbox talks

· Serve as a Lead HSE consultant to provide HSE operations support to Appalachia construction projects group for Shell Oil Company.

· Function as the direct link between field Safety Technicians and Shell HSE operations. Provide guidance to ensure Technicians are applying Shell HSE management system requirements with the contractors.

· Provide continual audits and recommendations to ensure contractors are maintaining equipment and policies within Shell guidelines.

· Responsible for tracking and auditing Safety Technicians documentation, compliance, and communication between operations and HSE staff and contractors.

· Tasked with ensuring a variety of contractors from facility construction to pipeline are educated and in compliance with Shell required policies and procedures.

· Collaborated with a team of Shell company representatives to foster the creation of ideas that will allow HSE Technicians to have the guidance and resources to meet HSE contract specifications.

· Continually trained Safety Technicians about new Shell policies and procedures and the most effective way to integrate them into their work practices and train their contractors.

· Guided Safety Technicians on how to ensure contractors are completing PTW, JSA’s, JHA’s and work plans to Shell standards.

· Coordinated investigation of incidents and near misses and presented results to Shell representative

· Continually trained HSE Technicians on HSE related topics such as Behavior Based Safety, Safety Metrics and current OSHA, DOT, and Department of Labor standards and policies.

· Read, interpret, and apply all OSHA regulations to scope of work.

· Conduct orientation for new hire co-workers.

· Assist new employees with I9 and W4, and other new hire paperwork requirements.

· Assist field supervision in the implementation of job specific safety plan.

· Assist field supervision in maintaining all required records such as Haz-Com manuals, training, and emergency action plans.

· Ensure that site supervisors have adequately prepared co-workers to act appropriately in an emergency.

· Make sure weekly Safety Meetings and daily TA are being done, attend and assist job supervision whenever possible.

· Interact with general contractors and/or construction managers to ensure everyone is provided with a safe place to work.

· Attend job site safety and sub-coordination meetings.

· Provide any specific training for co-workers such as equipment, confined space, and Haz-Com.

· Ensure that job supervision is taking action to correct unsatisfactory safety performance.

· Maintain accident records for all OSHA recordable or reportable incidents.
