  • Responsible for conducting informal teacher observations for each member of the department
  • Assisted in the development of a Personal Improvement Plan for Instructors when necessary
  • Successfully created and implemented a proposal to increase the number of required Social Studies courses necessary to receive a Governor’s School Diploma
  • Successfully implemented new course offerings by our department including AP African American Studies, and elective courses such as The Civil Rights Movement in America and Topics in World History. In addition, reintroduced a long dormant class titled Introduction to Modern Political Theory
  • Annually developed the department course offerings as well as teacher room assignments and schedule
  • Developed and chaired a subcommittee on teacher recruitment and retention
  • Responsible for coordinating the textbook approval process, purchases, and inventory

  • Responsible for teaching gifted and exceptionally gifted students in the following subjects: Honors and Advanced Placement United States History, Global Studies 9th-10th grade, Senior Seminar on Military History, Debate, and an elective course on topics in 20th Century American History
  • Required to be proficient with electronic grading, electronic attendance, powerpoint, weblogs, and webpages as part of regular classroom duties
  • Assisted in the development and writing of curriculum for both the Honors U.S. History course and the Military History Seminar. Course curriculum reflected how these courses met and exceeded the Virginia Standards of Learning.
  • Served as Head Baseball Coach from 2024-Present and led the team in 2025 to its first winning season since 2016.
  • Sponsored the Debate Program from 2000-2018. Expanded the Debate Program in terms of programs offered, number of competitions, and total number of students participating (now 25-30 per year). The success of this program was marked by winning the VCFL State Championships in the following years: 2004,2007-2014, 2016, 2018 and State Runnerups in 2003,2005, 2017. The program achieved its greatest success in 2013 when the team of Mason Davenport and Aateeb Khan finished 6th in the nation in Public Forum Debate.
  • Member of the School Advisory Council. 2017-18 served on the Curriculum and the nomination and by-laws committee. 2018-19 Vice Chair of SAC, serve on the Calendar and nomination and by-laws committee
  • Member of the Faculty Council from 2012-2014 where I served as a mediator with the administration to address various concerns brought forth by the faculty.
  • Sponsored the National History Club from 2009-2011 Developed and implemented the selection process and requirements for applicants. Developed and implemented the ceremonial program for inductees.
