Work History

Floorhand/Motor Hand

Akita Drilling
Midland, TX
03.2023 - Current
  • I broke out on a drilling rig with Akita Drilling. My job as a floorhand consisted of many things.

Maintaining and inspecting all floor equipment, such as iron roughnecks, slips, collar clamps, tongs, and having dope at all times, and so on. It also required tripping pipe on the drill floor.

My job also required maintaining the rig throughout all drilling operations, such as scrubbing and pressure washing around all areas of the rig, painting in necessary areas of the rig, strapping pipe to continue drilling operations, inspecting the catwalk before each use, and assisting the motor hand and derrick hand with day-to-day tasks they need help with.

  • I worked the floor hand position for about a year before I got promoted to be a motor hand. My job as a motor hand consisted of daily maintenance and inspections of all generators being used to power the rig, making sure all levels of oil are properly filled to the required mark on each sight glass, checking all my levels of oil and fluid in the accumulator, and ensuring all the pressure levels are where they need to be (annular psi, choke manifold psi, accumulator psi). I was also in charge of having proper BHA laid out and ready to be picked up, to go back into the hole.
  • Tested and repaired electric motors, variable frequency drives, alarms and control systems.
  • Checked oil levels in the engines to ensure adequate lubrication of moving parts.

Warehouse Operator

House of Furniture
Amarillo, TX
01.2021 - 05.2025
  • My job at the house of furniture warehouse consisted of building, packaging, and installing all furniture appliances, like full bedroom sets, couches, dining tables, and chairs, entertainment consoles, and so on.
  • Prepared and completed warehouse orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule.
  • The job consisted of using power tools and hand tools. My job also required critical thinking and quick problem solving skills when proper tools and equipment were damaged or unavailable.

Heavy Equipment Operator/Lead Hand

D.E. Rice Construction
Borger, TX
06.2021 - 02.2023
  • I worked at the Phillips 66 Refinery in Borger, TX, with Rice Construction as an operator/lead man of my crew. My job consisted of demolishing old towers and vessels at certain units at the refinery that were no longer running or being used. I used heavy equipment like trackhoes, backhoes, dump trucks, and forklifts to dispose of scrap metal and another material properly.
  • Promoted continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Checked fuel supplies at sites to verify adequate availability.
