Volunteer Experience

  • Museum of Art and History for Computer Science, 12/8/22, 3:00-6:00, I, along with another classmate of mine, set up a table at the museum and our goal was to teach kids about computers and how they worked and operated. The way we did this was by starting from a fully assembled computer and then (SBS) disassembled and then (SBS) put it back together. We'd also answer questions that they might have and regarding the process. We also showed them the BIOS and how they could use it to test hardware for troubleshooting or to just peek at the system's specs. The whole point of this event was to show kids that computers aren't scary and that anyone could build one with some simple knowledge.
  • Bay Cyber Summer Camp, 6/5/23 - 6/23/23, The Summer of 23 I decided to participate in the Bay Cyber Summer camp as a TA. It was my first time at the camp but I was experienced enough with the topics so I decided to participate. There were 2 weeks of camp. The first week was an intro camp which consisted of learning about ethics, Cybersecurity and opportunities in the field, digital and social sleuth games, block and line code programming, networking, packet tracer & Binary, and finally bashcrawl and Linux. The second week was intermediate camp and that consisted of the following topics. Networking and wireshark, network analysis, python coding, hash encoding and cryptography, autopsy and digital forensics & finally a capture the flag game against all other participating colleges. My job throughout the camp was to help those who were new to the subjects or were in need of other assistance, I was also advised to keep the students focused on the task at hand and help those who weren't on task or were distracting other campers. Overall my experience was good. I met plenty of talented and young and smart prospects and had a lot of fun helping out and teaching those who were new to the subjects.
