Selected Academic Projects

  • 05/2015 - 06/2015, Completed eight-week field school in McLellanville, SC, during which I assisted in the excavation of what we believe to be a slave quarters at Hampton Plantation (40 hours per week), Worked on a crew to excavate what we believed to be a former slave quarters, Gained familiarity with technology such as GIS, Total Station and GPR, Worked in lowland terrain, Worked in intense heat for extended periods of time
  • 06/2016, Completed four-week field school in Galway, Ireland, during which I assisted in the excavation of a castle known as Issert Kelly (40 hours per week), Mapped and planned stone structures, Excavated rocky terrain, Cleaned, recorded, and analyzed artifacts, Worked on a field crew to excavate area outside of the castle
  • 01/2016 - 04/2016, Completed internship at Charleston Museum during which I cleaned, analyzed, and cataloged artifacts (hours varied), Cleaned analyzed and cataloged artifacts, Used PastPerfect museum software to catalog artifacts, Learned how to use electrolysis as a means of removing oxidization from metal artifacts
