Conducted field surveys and collected data on the Mexican Spotted Owl. Monitoring of the Mexican Spotted Owl included observing their activity for an hour, offering mice to locate fledglings, Count how many individual fledglings in an area, as well as planning the survey, evaluate habitat, analyzing any unusual interactions between biotic and abiotic factors and writing reports.
Conducted field surveys and collected data on the Kuenzler Hedgehog Cactus. Monitoring of the Kuenzler Hedgehog cactus included surveying area's and permanent plots where kuenzlers are known to be located. Each individual cactus found is marked with flagging and marked with a gps.
Conducted field surveys and collected data on the Sacramento Mountain Salamander. Monitoring of the Sacramento Mountain Salamander included surveying plots of known populations and counting individual salamanders. Each salamander found is pit tagged, numbered and released.
Conducted field surveys and collected data on the Gooding's Onion. Monitoring of the Gooding's Onion included surveying and assisting with known populations and finding new populations of the onion. Each population plot of the onion was surveyed by doing a 10 meter diameter plot with four sections counting the population as well as seeding and flowering onions. Each onion population is marked by gps, as well as collecting seeds for an effort to grow the population.
Conducted field surveys and collected data on the Peñasco Least Chipmunk. Monitoring of the Peñasco Least Chipmunk included guiding others to the area where the chipmunk is found, assisting with camera traps and establish new plots to be surveyed.
Conducted field surveys and collected data on Spongy Moths. Monitoring of Spongy Moths included setting traps, changing the traps every month, and analyzing the traps for any Spongy Moths.
Conducted field surveys and collected data on Goshawks. Monitoring of the Goshawk included locating nests, marking nest with gps, and watching goshawks and nestlings for an hour.
Conducted field surveys as well as collection of New Mexican Penstemon. New Mexico Penstemon is essential for the survival of the Checkerspot Butterfly. Penstemon is collected within a quarter mile of each plant only collecting one plant out of every 25 plants.
Implemented monitoring protocols such as audio and visual surveys, nest searches, and general observations.
Conducted restoration projects such as Beaver Dam Analogs (BDA). The process of executing a Beaver Dam Analog includes driving wooden posts into the ground with a hydraulic post pounder, cut and weaved willow in the wooden posts, and build sediment structures within the wooden posts.
Conducted electro-shocking in streams and ponds for yy Brook Trout. After successfully shocking the trout they were inspected for fin clippings to confirm if they are yy Brook Trout. If the trout did not have a fin clipping, a fin was clipped to be sent to a lab for identification.
Assisted in stocking yy Brook Trout in ponds and streams.
Conducted cave surveys for general wildlife.
