Program Therapist for Early First Episode Program

As the Program Therapist, I am an active part of our Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) team dedicated to providing individualized care to those who are experiencing their First Episode of Psychosis (ex. unspecified psychosis, bipolar with psychotic features, schizophrenia…). I assist clients in developing skills and strategies for symptom management, goal setting, and achieving success in their personal and professional lives. I work closely with other programs within the community and hospital system in order to provide guidance, support, and eligibility assessments. I provide training in schools, community agencies, and other departments through presentations on assessing symptoms, making appropriate referrals, and recommendations for care.

This was a contract/ grant funded, temporary position.

As a confidential resource, I assisted university students that were both complainants and respondents in Title IX related complaints. I provided advocacy and crisis response through referrals, emergency support, guidance through resources/systems (on and off campus), and more. I was apart of education/presentations focusing on advocacy, sexual health, sexual misconduct, and substance use. I created groups and provided educational seminars, depending on the needs of the student body. Further, I was giving the opportunity to teach an academic course focused on advocacy, as requested by students. I served on multiple campus committees and task forces focused on the safety and health of the UNM student body, including:

  • Campus Assessment Response Education (CARE) Team- Focuses on assisting staff and faculty in responding to students in distress.
  • Campus Sexual Misconduct and Assault Response Team (SMART)- A Victim-focused response team including community and university organizations that are first responders to sexual assault, sexual abuse, and sexual misconduct.
  • Consensual Relationship Policy Taskforce- A taskforce dedicated to developing appropriate polices regarding romantic relationships amongst staff, faculty, and students affiliated with the University of New Mexico
  • New Mexico Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Task Force.
