Keeps a positive attitude while seeing the good in all situations. Very loving individual who cares for everyone around her and puts their needs before her own. Does not give up on a tasks part of the way through, instead sets her mind to something and accomplishes it to the best of her ability. Enjoys staying busy and getting involved as opportunities arise.
Worked with a 13 year old girl with a few different developmental disabilities. Each day we would go out into the community or simply stay at her home while participating in other activities.
During this time I would go to the families house to provide services to a 12 year old boy. He had a list of skills we would work on each day including going out in the community, at home activities and other daily tasks.
Each of the campers have a different form of disability, I was assigned to one in particular. Each morning I would pick up my camper, take her to meet the rest of camp, spend the day with her and her friends and bring her her home at the end of the day. I Spent time getting to know her and would do my best to support all her needs and behaviors each day.
During this time I restocked the shelves, worked in the deli and was a cashier
During this time I would go back and fourth between two different restaurants. Each day I would greet all costumers and take their order, help prepare food, serve the food and clean the restaurant.
Throughout my later middle school and high school years I would babysit for families in my
community. All four years in high school I was apart of key club, in key club I would pass out
food to the homeless, was a part of cancer runs and regularly packed bags for new moms at a
nearby hospital. In my junior year of high school I went to the Dominican Republic with a group
of fellow student to build water trenches in one of their villages. Sophomore year in college I
volunteered with the special needs community weekly. For the past three years I have
volunteered in the children's ministry at my church. Due to my college getting out early for the
summer I have been able to shadow teachers at one of the nearby elementary schools. The year
post college I participated a church plant helping transform an elementary school into a church weekly.
Currently I am apart of our churches young adults planning committee.
