I began my current position with exactly three years experience writing and Servicing policies for Allstate.
I had determined at this time that I would prefer to have a menu of insurance options to offer my customers.
Working for an independent agency allowed me to become proficient in writing and servicing policies for more than seven different companies. including Progressive, Safeco, American Modern, Foremost, Dairyland / Viking, Amshield, National General, Oregon Fair Plan, and Sublimity/United Heritage. I also gained experience obtaining and servicing non admitted lines.
My most recent accomplishment has been in the re homing of policies non renewed by Sublimity and United Heritage in our most recent industry challenge of companies "leaving the State." I had asked my employer to assign me the lions share of these policies so that I might build my experience and knowledge quickly. Many of these homes were located in high fire risk areas. Sublimity and United Heritage had maintained long time customers with claim satisfaction and low premiums. Their customers did not want to leave them, or be left by them.
I was able to rewrite these insureds into new policies, keeping them more than happy, even though the new policies had much higher premiums and deductibles and often lower coverage A. In the end, I only lost three customers. During this process I became very experienced acquiring the information I needed to properly create detailed cost estimators to determine the replacement and Actual Cash value of homes. As well as developed skills helping insureds understand the importance of creating non combustible spaces around their homes. Many of my customers have told me that they never understood their own coverages before I came along, and now they do.
As a customer service person, my happiness often lies in the happiness of my customers. Having said that, I am very pleased to say, my customers like me very much, and I am happy.
For many years I have maintained both a full time and a part time job. In my future I would like to have a bit more personal time to spend maintaining my home, and hiking and jogging with my dogs. That is why I now seek a remote or partially remote position in the insurance Industry.
