The Online School for Voice Over, Work from Home doing Voice Overs with culminating Voice Review by Julie Eickhoff, 2023
While it may not be relevant to every project or employer, I include a transparent acknowledgement that how we tell certain stories matters deeply. I believe all survivors are the experts on their own experiences, but not everyone is well-qualified to work with survivors in a comfortable, safe way. The greatest asset I offer a production team is a regulated nervous system, along with an in-depth knowledge of how to respond if and when that changes for me or a client I am working with. High-quality production means nobody is harmed behind the scenes as well. I share this final list as a collection of experiences that make me well-versed and well-trained in working with survivors of trauma or activated colleagues.
*With 10 years of annual events with the V-Day organization, my participation ranged year-to-year depending on organizational needs. Everything from designing merch, online fundraising campaigns, the background "boring admin" stuff, and performance has been a part of this long-term commitment. My final year culminated with casting, directing, and fully producing a gender-inclusive run of our show, including LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and disabled performers. It was one of the greatest responsibilities I've been privileged to be a part of while working with V-Day.
