  • As a charge nurse, I review huddle for staffing for the day, review patient charts, check labs to determine if the patient meets the parameter set for treatment, verify has current signed consent, and verify drug doses that are to be administered. Reviewing the provider note for any noted changes in treatment plan, and messaging clinic for clarification if needed. Assign patients to a nurse for treatment while maintaining even acuity/pt load per nurse
  • Assess patient in areas of biophysical needs, psycho-social needs, self-care, educational and emotional needs. Educate patient/family on their chemotherapy treatment, provide educational material
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, growth factors and other medications (iron, IVIG, Tysabri, Prolia, Lupron/Faslodex etc.) via peripheral or central line access or sq/IM injection as ordered by the physician.

  • As an employee of Cancer Specialists of North Florida, I was originally hired as a staff nurse and progressed to a charge nurse and then a nurse supervisor. I started at our St. Vincent’s Riverside office, transferred to the St. Vincent’s Clay office in December 2020 as a staff nurse.
  • During my position as staff, charge and supervisor, I was the referral person for patients needing to go to bone marrow transplant. Which required reviewing of charts to obtain necessary records of labs, biopsies, treatment regimens, provider notes, etc, to send to the transplant facility. Then I would follow up on patient that returned post-transplant for when vaccines were needed and scheduled accordingly. I developed my own templates/flowsheet for post-transplant vaccine and follow up to keep track of patients for compliance.
