I started my career in the military June of 1985. I went in as an Infantryman learning basic military skills.
Shortly after I went to quartermaster school to become a motorpool supply specialist where I would oversee, maintain and control the motorpool supplies. I would order parts and supplies needed to maintain vehicles at the ready 24/7.
After several year overseas, I returned stateside and went to a MASH unit (Combat Medical Hospital) where they sent me back to quartermaster school to become a military supply specialist. I oversaw the in's and out's of the unit supply center. I distributed any supplies needed by the hospital or individual soldier. I controlled the loss of inventory and the ordering of any supplies needed for daily functions of the unit and maintained the unit at a combat ready status which is crucial to a MASH unit.
After two years at the MASH unit I was recruited to the 11th Special Forces Group (A). They are a reserve unit out of Miami, Fl.
At the 11th SFG(A) I was both motorpool and unit supply sergeant. I oversaw the units readiness status when it pertained to the vehicles and soldiers individual needs as well as the units supplies. This was another challenging unit as it was also a Combat Ready unit.
The 11th SFG(A) was also an airborne (A) unit which required me to go to Airborne (Paratrooper) school. I completed the airborne training and shortly thereafter went to selections to start my journy into the world of the U.S. Army Special Forces.
I successfully completed S.F. training and also went to Advance combat training courses and Advance Leadership school to learn how to become a professional leader. There I learned to lead, train others and work under extreme pressures.
When I returned from all my training I maintained my supply Sgt. status but with more responsibilities and a much higher security clearance. I maintained myself at the ready until the unit was deactivated. I completed my career with the 20th SFG(A).
I am a prior Walgreens team member. I joined Walgreens back in 1993, shortly after hurricane Andrew. I started while I was still in the service. I was a part timer cashier. I took on this job as part of rebuilding my family after a total loss from Andrew.
I was hired by Debrah Buaim. SM at the BVL store in Kissimmee, Fl. after 6 months I was transferred to a store on hwy 192 and John Young Parkway under Dan Levenson working an overnight shift, stocking and prepping the store for the next business day.
I returned to Ms. Buaim store to assist in running the liquor store and it's inventory. 6 months after that transfer, Ms. Buaim recommended I transfer to a store in Orlando managed by Jerry Telson, whom was in need of a bilingual team member. I took the challenge, as I was a translator in the military. About 9 months in, Mr. Telson offered me a position as an assistant manager and that lead to a long career with Walgreens.
I continued my military career as a reservist as I worked my way into the civilian workforce. I assisted in the relocation of what is now known as store #05658 under Mr Telson and Mr. Brad Foster. I have worked special teams for, then D.M., Mr Swagle as part of a New Store set-up crew and also oversaw store inventory preparation.
When promoted to EXA, I assisted in the daily tasks of running a store in Maitland, Fl.
After 10 great years with Walgreens, My wife and I decided it was time for me to move on and start my own business in the automotive field. I was an expert mechanic certified and a shop manager for a Tire shop in Miami, Fl. and became a parts sales manager for Autozone in Orlando, Fl.
AutoZone:
I oversaw the sales, inventory and staffing of several locations on Orlando. I was lead in a special crew designed to set-up New stores and remodel old stores. I was selected to create, plan and oversee a special crew of team members from different parts of Florida to drive out to Luisiana and help clean-up, and rebuild two store locations affected by hurricane Katrina. I was able to clean up the store. Restock the store, Hire a new crew to open the store for business. During the day I was performing the task of store manager, overseeing the teams effort to help the community with there auto part needs and knowledge. During the afternoon I would use my Mechanical skills to help customers in the community with some basic auto repairs. The store would close at 6pm due to upcoming curfew so I would take the team to the local Walmart to shop for groceries and I would cook a good meal for everyone and relax for a few hours until our warehouse delivery. We where staying in an RV behind the store due to lack of hotel availability. We would put up our warehouse delivery then go back to the rv for some sleep and repeat the day, every day for three weeks. I managed to increase our sales to between $12,000 and $18,000 daily in GP. After returning back to Orlando, Fl. I continued performing my daily tasks until I started my own Mobile mechanic service. I ran my service for 4 years.
This is where I returned to Walgreens.
