As a Apparatus Technician I am responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical apparatus equipment, including regulators, relays, switches, capacitors and other critical equipment within Southern California Edison’s electrical distribution system. Collaborating and working closely with engineers, project managers, troubleman and field crews to ensure that apparatus’s are installed and maintained according to specifications and electrical standards. Proficiency in using testing equipment and tools. Perform routine inspections on electrical equipment, identifying potential issues and performing preventative maintenance to avoid outages. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of electrical infrastructure, helping to maintain a reliable power grid for residential, commercial, and industrial customers, by Adhering to safety procedures and standards, including those set by OSHA, NESC, and SCE’s internal safety protocols.
My duties as a E Crew Foreman is to oversee and supervise bargaining unit personnel who are engaged daily activities of constructing, maintaining and restoring Southern California Edison's electrical system. By adhering to all Edison construction standards and ensuring when leaving the job site that hazards do not exist which would result in injury to employees or the general public. Ability to effectively communicate tailboard meetings to ensure all jobs are clear of any G.O. 95 or G.O. 128 infractions. Establish high-quality work practices that align with Edison's core values. First responder for 911 emergency calls and investigated trouble calls involving electric distribution, street lighting, and voltage problems, initiate E1/P1 notifications and emergent repair orders and clear orders upon completion. Investigate root cause of service interruptions, made permanent or temporary repairs, established or disconnect service as needed. Utilize effective switching to achieve part load up and reduce customer minutes of interruption. Advised system operator of nature of trouble calls and made recommendations, ED 46, MPFR and all other documents fully, accurately, and in a timely manner. Use manual and automated to document work performed, record equipment installed and labor utilized.
