Re: Darcey O’Donnell
To Whom It May Concern
I am delighted to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Ms. Darcey O’Donnell, whom I had as a student during her rotation at Martin Luther King Community Hospital. I had the pleasure of instructing her during her advanced medical surgical clinical through West Coast University.
Darcey rotated through a high acuity telemetry unit. She nursed patients who had chronic medical condition with acute symptoms. She cared for patients who had GI bleed, acute alcohol disease with advance complication, newly diagnosed liver cirrhosis and others with uncontrolled diabetes with advanced kidney disease needing dialysis, hypertension with associated acute kidney injury, and various patients who had both uncontrolled medical problems with underlining psychiatric conditions.
During her clinical, I observed Darcey attend to her patient with care alongside her assigned primary nurse. Darcey applied her vocational nursing skills which allowed her to be a comfortable nurse for her patients. She competently performed physical assessment and safely administered medications. She was conscience when implementing interventions. She took on any assignments. She assisted during a rapid response code. Darcey reported acute findings urgently to her nurse. She administered medications through oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous methods.
I had the opportunity to see her grow, mature and apply her basic nursing knowledge and skills gained throughout her clinical rotation. She demonstrated safe nursing practice under my supervision and ensured her patient's needs are met. She adhered to the hospital and school policy.
Her nurses reported her to be very caring and meticulous when taking care of her patients. She was extremely helpful to the staff and to her patients and their family. Darcey’s efforts were greatly appreciated by those she assisted.
She constantly worked on improving her critical skills and heightened her nursing knowledge to advance concepts over time. She reviewed Code STEMI, Code Stroke and Code Sepsis protocol.
For the above reasons, I highly recommend Darcey without any reservations. She will become a valuable member of your team and an asset to any hospital or program to which she may apply.
