Greeting, my name is Darius Jones and I'm originally from Memphis, TN. I decided to join the military in 2009 I served eight years in United States Navy as a Logistics Specialist. Providing support with customer service logistics in shipping, receiving parts, inventory, shipboard financial manager, postal clerk and accounting support in global settings to aviation, surface, subsurface, and expeditionary forces. In 2010-2012 I was assigned to the Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 303 Detachment San Diego. In 2012-2014 I was deployed twice overseas in the Southeast Asia and South America Regions on the USS Vandegrift FFG-48. In 2014-2016 also served on the USS Lake Erie CG-70. I had many other shipboard collateral duties as well such as Watchbill Coordinator, Anti Terrorism Team Member, Visit Search and Seizure Member, Shipboard Fire Fighting Flying Squad, Independent Postal Clerk and Security Teams. Strategic and forward-thinkin with self-motivated and tactical mindset. Excellent relationship-building and critical thinking skills with determined and decisive nature. Knowledgeable and dedicated customer service professional with extensive experience in the military. I love working as a team player with outgoing, positive demeanor, keeping integrity to core values and proven skills in establishing rapport with a team. Unfortunately, in August 2016 while heading to the gun range I was in a very terrible motorcycle accident and suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury. Life quickly changed and I was forced to medically retire from the Navy in July 2017. Shorty after I finished up my rehabilitation program at the San Diego VA Spinal Cord Injury Unit. I was introduced to many adaptive sports opportunities to help with my recovery. I participated in many adaptive sports events such as the National Veterans Wheelchair Games, Summer Sports Clinic and Winter Sports Clinic. I was also selected to represent Team Navy and compete in 2019 Department of Defense Warrior Games in Tampa, Florida. I decided to keep my self busy striving to learn more so I enrolled to go to school and obtain my California Real Estate Licensed in 2021 from Nationwide Real Estate Executives School. Even though I'm retired I feel like I still have alot to offer to society. I've been member of with my local PVA Chapter since my injury. I previously served as a member of the Board of Directors, Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service,
Sports and Recreation Representative for the Cal-Diego PVA Chapter from 2018-2023. I was recently elected to serve as the Chapters National Director July 2026-current. I would like to continue taking the challenge to provide more and learn from a different leadership position and see what ways I can contribute and help all of my fellow service members.
