I grew up in a really big family, and because of that we always had a lot of cars. My dad and I did most if not all the work on them, I always enjoyed it but it wasn't until i was about 17 I fell in love with cars and working on them. My parents always encouraged me to go into some form of construction so I started going into the welding field, but even with that I was thinking about welding exhausts or roll cages, so I decided to change career paths and go into the automotive field. I have loved everything I have learned so far and I am always looking to learn more and improve my skills. My family laughs at me because when I am not working on cars, I am researching them, watching diagnosing videos, engine rebuild videos... you name it. My dream is to work for a company that is just as passionate about cars as I am and learn from the best in the field.
Over two summers I was able to work as an assistant coach and later a head coach for multiple youth soccer teams. I definitely learned patience, but I also learned how to problem solve, and how to really be a part of a team. I also learned from my mistakes, not only from ones that i realized but also those that were pointed out to me. I realized from that job I will always have more to learn and that no matter what I can always do better, and that has pushed me in my study's to really push myself.
I started out doing basics such as; oil changes, filter replacements, brake flushes, and learning how to use CDK. I was assigned to work with a Master Tech who taught me different diagnosing methods and how to inspect the vehicle for any problems. I was then taught how to replace tires and repair bent rims, as well as programming and testing new parts. I learned a lot more about how dealerships flow and the master tech I worked with was teaching me how to get more proficient in order to progress to a flat rate tech. I loved that job and was sad when I resigned because I even though I was there for only a short period of time my mechanical skill improved dramatically and I am looking forward to improving more at the next job.
This was my second job and I definitely learned a lot from it, I was constantly moving and communicating with other team members and it definitely helped me to learn how to work faster, and smarter. I was able to watch how seasoned lift operators kept everything organized and how they were able to communicate everything simply and effectively and it is something I tried to implement in my own work even to this day. Learning from people around me has helped me to be more successful in whatever job I am in.
