Began training at the Reading Hospital Of Surgical Technology in 1992 and completed the program in 1993. Began working as a Surgical Technologist in February of 1994 for the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. In 1998 took a position at the Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster Pa., as a Surgical Technologist in the ("Open-Heart") CVOR surgical specialty. In 2002 I was recruited and hired as Lead CVOR Surgical Technologist, to assist in the opening of a new Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular surgical specialty at the Brandywine Hospital, in Coatesville, Pa. In February 2004 accepted a position at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center as a Surgical Technician on the Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular surgical team, and began working as a First Assistant to the Surgeon, training under the guidance of the attending Surgeon and PA assistant. In 2007 I was promoted to the position of Robotic Surgery Coordinator, and attended the Robotic Surgery Coordinator Training Program at Intuitive Surgical @. Attended courses for the purpose of "vein harvest", at the University of St. Louis Medical School in 2007. I have been working as a ("grandfathered"), First Assistant for the last 10 years between the specialties of Cardio-Thoracic, Vascular, General and Robotic Surgery, having harvested vein in both the "open", and Endoscopic techniques, and assisted on all types of Cardio-Thoracic cases. In 2013-2014 attended and completed a course at the Meridian Institute of Surgical First Assisting. In September of 2014 passed the national certifying exam for Surgical First Assistants.
Performing all associated functions as First Assistant within the realm of Cardio-Thoracic surgical specialty, including vein harvest endoscopically, as well as radial artery harvest, for the purpose of bypass grafting, as a Locum.
On staff as an independent contractor . Primary duties are related to but not limited to, First Assisting within the genre of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, with duties including vein harvest in both "open", and endoscopic technique. contracted for 13 weeks.
Currently on staff as a contractor for the Cardio-Thoracic Surgical Specialty at Ochsner Medical Center, duties include but are not limited to, endo and/or open vein harvest for the purpose of coronary artery bypass grafting, first assistant to the attending surgeon on cases ranging from coronary artery bypass grafting, heart and lung transplant, valve replace/repair, aneurism repair etc...
Olathe Medical Center, in Olathe Kansas. Began contract in December of 2017, originally contracted for 13 weeks and have been resigned 4 times. Duties are that of a First Assistant to the Surgeon, in the CVOR, responsible for vein harvest weather it be by open technique or endoscopic for the purpose of bypass grafting. Assist Surgeon in placing patients on Cardio-pulmonary bypass as well as assist on bypass grafting etc...
