David Becker

I am a highly skilled and gifted special educator with many strengths and talents to bring to your special education team and greater school community. Always student centered, I am a hard working, enthusiastic, collaborative, team player with a growth mindset and a demonstrated ability to create and maintain a positive, engaging learning environment that meets the individual needs of students with disabilities in California public schools. I am committed to helping all students to be successful, allowing them to develop positive self esteem, positive attitudes towards school and positive social interactions which results in increased student engagement, learning and overall achievement.

• Ran after school student enrichment program, Chess Club, 2016-2018.
• Taught Summer School/ ESY in Vista Unified for students with disabilities, 2005 to 2014.
• Taught at the Worthington Summit, Rancho del Campo, Sarah Anthony, Sports Academy and other highly specialized programs for at-risk students in grades 7-12 in the Juvenile Community Court Schools, San Diego County Office of Education, 2000-2004.
• Taught a Spanish primary language Special Day Class grades 3-5 for students with Learning Disabilities at Harborside Elementary in the Chula Vista Elementary School District, 1996-1998.
• Worked as an Instructional Assistant in a Severely Handicapped Special Day Class grades 3-5, Santa Cruz County Office of Education, Pajaro Valley Unified School District, 1991-1995.

I am an active, health minded individual. I enjoy hiking, swimming, cooking and spending time with my family. My interests include playing a variety of musical instruments including the piano, guitar, saxophone and harmonica. My hobbies include reading, woodworking, gardening, making jewelry and building an N scale model railroad.
