Work History

Self-employed, Online Retail Sales

Self
10.2012 - Current

After my daughter was born in 2012 my wife and I decided to transition to working full-time on the eBay business she had been running part-time on her own. My wife suffers from a chronic disease and eBay provided the opportunity to earn more money than I had in woodworking while working fewer hours. This provided me the ability to support her and our daughter at home. While not applicable to my woodworking skills I felt it was necessary to explain the long gap in my resume. My time as a self-employed retailer further honed the customer service skills I practiced during my time with previous employers and provided me the opportunity to further develop my self-motivation and time management skills. During this time I would still occasionally assist my previous employer Nate Danforth, owner of Timeless Pieces, and my friend Tony Fuhrman, owner of Summit Woodworking when they required extra help.

Custom Woodworker

Pearlwood Design
03.2001 - 10.2012

I was responsible for taking measurements and layouts of installation spaces, translating blueprints for high-end custom cabinets and furniture into parts lists, occasional design input, fabrication, finishing, delivery, and installation. Clients included noted UofA benefactor Thomas Keating for whom my coworkers and I fabricated and installed custom cabinetry throughout his home and built a full custom mesquite dining set when the cabinetry job was completed. A significant portion of my time at Pearlwood was spent as the sole employee on the shop floor where I was responsible for every part of the job except bidding the jobs and designing the cabinets/furniture. I worked with numerous species of woods and manmade materials. I was fully trained on all major stationary tooling and skilled in hand work as well.

Custom Woodworker

Timeless Pieces
06.2006 - 10.2012

Timeless Pieces shared a large warehouse space with Pearlwood Design and J. Swiss and Co. The space functioned as a woodowrking co-op. While my primary employer was Pearlwood Design I occasionally did work for Timeless Pieces and J Swiss and Co. as needed when they required extra help or when the entire shop was working co-operatively on a large project. My duties when working for Timeless Pieces and J. Swiss and Co. were fabrication and installation.

Woodworker

Turnkey Corporation
03.2003 - 05.2006

From 2003 to 2006 I took leave from Pearlwood Design to work at Turnkey Corporation. The reason for my departure from Pearlwood Design was to seek a job with health benefits which Turnkey provided and I left Pearlwood on good terms. Turnkey Corporation specialized in industrial cabinetry primary for hospitals and medical clinics around the Tucson area. I was responsible for cutting sheet goods, milling holes for hardware, assembly, delivery, and installation. Notable project while I worked there included manufacturing cabinetry for new patient wings at St Joseph's Hospital and retrofitting all of the cabinetry for the west wing of St Mary's Hospital. I also fabricated and installed the reception desk in the main entry of St. Mary's Hospital. I also operated a forklift at Turnkey though I do not hold a forklift certification.
