Hassett Express, a leader in time-definite freight services, headquartered in Oak Brook Terrace, Illinois, Illinois, is seeking a CDL A Driver to join our team in our Swedesboro, NJ location. This opportunity includes: high standards of quality, safety and service and a willingness to learn the business. You will be responsible to drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW, to transport and deliver freight.
  
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

* Required to unload truck using a forklift and/or pallet jack
* Maintain a commercial drivers' license. Develop new relationships for Hassett Express
* Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods.
* Read bills of lading to determine assignment details. Verify cargo against shipping papers.
* Examine and report vehicle malfunctions, defects, accidents, traffic violations, required maintenance, or damage to the vehicles. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
* Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as adding oil, fuel, and radiator fluid, or performing minor repairs.
* Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
* Documenting/Recording Information. Maintain driver log according to I.C.C. regulations
* Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
* Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
* Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
* Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
* Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.
* Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
* Wrap goods using pads, packing paper, and containers, and secure loads to trailer walls, using straps.
* Use local or regional geographical knowledge to determine vehicle routes. Read and interpret maps or use GPS enabled devices
* Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones, to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
  
Job Qualifications 

* Education: High School Diploma/G.E.D
* Commercial Driver's License  CDL A (registered to state of work location)
* Experience using forklift and/or pallet jack preferred but not required
  
Knowledge & Aptitudes:

* Customer Service Orientation
* Strong communication skills: Requires regular contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone, email, or otherwise)
* Requires working with external customers, internal customers, and/or the public
* Ability to make judgments and decisions, with and without supervision
* Time Management: Organizing, planning, and prioritizing work. Ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure.
* Ability to drive tractor-trailer truck
* Ability to use truck-mounted hydraulic lifts, mechanized devices, or other accessories
* Ability to complete all necessary D.O.T. documentation
* Work as a team member
* Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  
You will report directly to the Dispatch/Operations Manager for the Swedesboro, NJ terminal. Problem solving, planning, and a commitment to the highest level of customer service are skills we highly desire.
