Music Bio
In 1987, my career gained momentum through studio sessions produced by Dana Walden (of Champaign fame). While gigging across the Midwest, I studied under three pivotal mentors: Pete Bridgewater, who brought me into the big band scene; John Pennell, who sharpened my reading skills; and the legendary Donald Rafael Garrett. Initially skeptical of Rafael’s stories, I soon realized he truly had recorded with John Coltrane, a revelation that reshaped my approach to the upright bass.
Returning to my roots in Philadelphia, I collaborated with engineer Jim “Jif” Hinger (Boyz II Men), which led to sessions and local residencies at iconic venues like J.C. Dobbs. During this time, I further refined my craft under the guidance of fusion virtuoso Gerald Veasley.
My journey took an international turn when an R&B residency in the Canary Islands caught the ear of Mike McCartney. Following his advice, I moved to Liverpool, where I eventually joined the band of former Wings guitarist Henry McCullough. This period also marked the beginning of a long-standing collaboration with Cream lyricist Pete Brown, joining his band, The Interoceters.
My discography includes several high-profile projects:
* From Clarksdale to Heaven: Remembering John Lee Hooker (2007): Recorded for Eagle Rock Entertainment, this session allowed me to perform alongside the legendary Jeff Beck and drummer Richard Bailey.
* Blues and Beyond (2001): A W.C. Handy Award-nominated tribute to Dick Heckstall-Smith, featuring British blues royalty like Jack Bruce, Peter Green, and Mick Taylor.
* Road of Cobras (2009): A collaboration with Phil Ryan and Pete Brown.
After returning to the United States in late 2008, I transitioned into a new chapter, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
