Engineering Technician working with general public , state, and local officials to construct and maintain our electric system.
I am responsible for designing work plans for new , and existing co op members. I often work with state , and local personnel with dot projects , obtaining easements , and many other aspects with our electric system.
My responsibilities with this position was to help construct , and maintain our distribution ,and transmission lines. I worked within one of our line crews , and often as a serviceman . I was , and still work as a lead lineman on one of our rotating on call crews.
I worked within one of the line crews on the Duke Energy system . I also ran a one man after hours first responder bucket .
I ran a underground construction crew on the Duke Energy system . I worked installing underground primary , and secondary in residential , and commercial settings. I am very familiar with underground switching procedures , and installation in development settings.
I have had several years of experience with our computer system , mapping etc I am very people oriented , and I enjoy working with members , and just being able to communicate effectively
I have a great drive to help teach young lineman I have seen many different scenarios on the job in my 22 years ,that I feel would be very beneficial to overall success for a company
One of my biggest accomplishments so far in my career with the co op , is one of our distribution tie lines that I designed . This was one of the very few joint use lines with Duke Energy that we have .This double circuit underbuild was a proud moment for me .
I had a previous safety coordinator that now works at the state level with jt and s.
OSHA , forklift safety, work zone safety, cpr , pole top rescue .
I have enjoyed fishing all my life , bass ,trout , carp , I have been doing it relentlessly for years . I have 2 children that are grown now , but my son played high school football for East Surry High in Pilot Mountain NC . They were on the brink of state title runs for years but just never quite made it , until 2 years ago they finally captured the state title . My son left just before that , but my daughters fiancee played on that team , so I was able to enjoy every game of that season , quite the story I may say , one of the dominant teams in high school history with 6 division one recruits.
I really enjoy what I do , and what I have done . I have strived to become all I could become in this line of work , for years I saw my dad work for contractors in the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia . I saw him destroy himself physically providing for my family. He was so excited when I got my job with the co op , because he had always wanted that himself., as a little kid I had almost lost him to an electrical contact , but never understood until I got in this line of work . I'm now no longer the young guy , and I want to help teach young guys and old alike how to be safe , and be proud of the opportunity they have working with a company .I always have said you always learn and never no it all , but I feel I have a lot of experience to offer.
