All computer entries use Microsoft Office, and other types of programs such as SHARE, and Zoom, which I am well proficient in using.

Highway Maintainer II

NMDOT
Silver City, NM
02.2000 - 03.2001
  • The Silver City patrol was not as stressful as the Albuquerque Freeway Patrol was as there is a lot less traffic. Love working in Silver City as it’s a lot closer to home and the forest is beautiful. While working, did many projects such as blade patching along US 180 and NM 35. Did actual blade patching by operating the blade which came out great. Did lots of shoulder work and pothole patching along the patrol area. Did crack sealing on US 180 and fog sealed NM 90. Put up signs in designated areas. Installed delineators and carsonites all over our roadways. This patrol work is designed to concentrate on keeping roads clean and safe for public traveling. During the rainy season, assured dips in the roadway are clean and checking for flood damage. Keep guard rail and fencing in good condition. I gained additional experience in the operation of our equipment and was responsible for preventative maintenance to ensure fewer breakdowns. Experienced in the transportation of equipment. Prepared myself in all facets of our patrol in case I was called upon for knowledge of our operation.

Highway Maintainer - II

NMSHTD
Albuquerque, NM
07.1999 - 02.2000
  • While working for the Dominguez Ranch, I was exposed to working with medium-to-heavy equipment on the open range. I was able to take care of the cattle, during hunting season I oversaw working in the area with more care to assure the trespassing signs were being observed. In the ranching aspect of my work, I would replace and repair miles of barbed wire and fence posts. We would also herd the cattle in and brand them or butcher when necessary. We would go and put salt cinders out for them and make sure they had plenty of water in their tank. In the farming experience I gained during my employee with Dominguez Ranch, I would prepare the fields for seeding and planting. I would oversee irrigation of the alfalfa fields and apple orchards. During each season we were dependent upon the service of the equipment prior to storage. At this point we would commence preparing the ground for the next season by digging trenches and clearing away all unwanted material from the land.

Delivery Drive/Asst. Foreman

Foxworth Galbraith Lumber Co.
Silver City, NM
08.1994 - 09.1995
  • My initial position with Foxworth was a Laborer in training. I worked with customers and their lumber needs. I would verify the purchase of the delivery ticket. Once promoted to Delivery Driver I was to pick up order tickets from the Contractor Desk and then proceed to pick and load items purchased and then deliver to job site designated. My delivery area ranged from Grant County to Morenci, Arizona, and surrounding areas. I assisted in the inventory of all windows, doors, cabinets, and stucco in preparation for ordering materials for stock. Once proficient as Delivery Drive, I was promoted to Head Delivery Driver and I oversaw pick up and/or delivery of materials from El Paso, Texas, Las Cruces and Albuquerque. I was then promoted to Assistant Yard Foreman with additional responsibilities.

Laborer

Santa Clara Maintenance Dept.
Santa Clara, NM
05.1990 - 08.1990
  • While working for Santa Clara Maintenance, I was able to understand the concept of working a full-time job. My job duties included but not limited to where to read water meters, repair water breaks inside the city, sweep city streets, clean the park, and clean ditches along with drains. While meter reading, I was able to determine the amount of gallons of water each household would use for a month and would shut off the water whenever the customers would not pay their bill on time. Repairing water breaks was sometimes one of the most difficult jobs there. Here we would have to determine where the water break was exactly and dig it out with a backhoe, picks and shovels. We would then determine the size of line it was and repair the break with a coupling. We would also have to make new cuts in the line to add to it for new water meters of shut offs depending on the situation. I would also have to determine how the water tanks were pumping and see how much water they were holding. I would assist in the street sweeping for the beautification project and for better drainage. Cleaning the park was fun. I enjoyed the visits by the kids that would stop by just to talk and ask questions about my job. It was the cleaning of the drains and ditches that allowed me to gain experience in operating a loader, backhoe, and dump truck. Skills that have proven to be valuable in the workplace today.
