As a seasoned Infantry Platoon Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps, I excelled in leading, mentoring and maintaining daily accountability for a team of roughly 40 Marines. My expertise in operational planning. leadership, communication, team work, and admin and logistics coordination, coupled with a strong passion to help those under my care allowed me to effectively manage and aid my Marines. As an infantryman I was directly responsible for safeguarding the lives of my Marines as well as increasing their tactical and medical proficiency in their jobs. This included teaching effective communication in high stress loud environments, team work and tactical combat casualty care. Tactical combat casualty care was a crucial component which focused on assessing and treating casualties with various injuries such as gun shot wounds, hemorrhages, burns, and obstructed airways.
Additionally I was in charge of facilitating all administrative and logistical components for a team of 200 personnel including sourcing vehicles, tactical gear, medical supplies, and coordinating timelines with adjacent military assets to ensure efficient operations. Simultaneously I was passionate about my education and I attended American Military University taking classes and encouraging others to do the same. My educational goals shifted to that of medicine after a near death experience occurred with one of my Marines and due to the training I received and taught on tactical combat casualty care, I was able to mitigate the situation and assist in the evacuation of the Marine to safety. I knew then I wanted to become a doctor and help others. One way I helped my local community occurred after my military service as I awaited the upcoming semester to begin at Marquette University. I took advantage of the time I had and created my own small business called Step Up Realty LLC operating as a general contractor subcontracted to a client focused exclusively on helping low income families in the local community by providing services such as painting, deck repair, and general maintenance.
