The Folio Award in 2018 was in recognition for creating the Kalmbach Media print product Model Railroading: The Ulitmate Guide from video content we'd produced for the Model Railroader Video Plus digital subscription product. The magazine ran as an annual for five years, and it included links to exclusive video content for each article as a way to promote the all-digital MR Video Plus product. Work on Ultimate Guide opened the door for the Kalmbach teams to begin converting how-to video content across all brands into print and web articles. As we were shooting in HD and later 4K, we could easily convert still video images into photos for print and web articles, something we do all the time now without even thinking about it.
