Daily checks on animals in the facility, making sure they were doing well and had water.
Assisting the Education Director in creating and preparing lesson plans, which included PowerPoint presentations and crafts for children of varying ages and grade levels.
Conducting animal presentations with live reptiles for groups of up to 35 at the facility.
Conducted outreach programs with live animals for events at local parks, such as Benson State Park, Edinburgh Scenic Wetlands, World Birding Center, South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center, and Estero Llano Grande State Park.
Used Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in order to create lesson plans and lessons to better educate the public.
Prepared the facility for events by setting up tables and chairs, as well as blocking off necessary trails.
Assisted with leading trail walks for large groups of up to 30, and in some cases, multiple groups in one day when certain events arise, such as the Memorial Wellness Walk, in which six classes from kindergarten through fifth grade are toured around the park.
General maintenance throughout the park, with tasks such as trimming trails, moving brush, and digging trenches for water lines.
Capturing and preserving insect specimens, and displaying them with accurate information for educational use.
Lead summer camp programs by managing four camp counselors and volunteers, as well as teaching the lessons for the day, conducting daily animal presentations, and managing the time of the group.
Delegated tasks to others when necessary for large-scale projects and/or events.
