I started my career in public service with the City of Houston on August 7, 1978. I started out as a Utility Worker 1 repairing water and sewer lines. I took it upon myself to start learning how to operate various pieces of equipment such as various types of backhoes, skid steers, dump trucks, and other equipment. I obtained a cdl drivers license and was promoted to a Utility Worker 2 and then later to a Supervisor. Eventually I made my up to the Manager position and managed 1/2 of the houston ( the southeast and southwest sides ) overseeing the repairs of water and sewer mains. I stayed in that position for 4 years and then decided it was time to finally retire, so I retired in December of 2006. From there i fished for about 2 years and just basically hung out making projects in my workshop. One day i received a phone call about and inspection job and I went to work for Atser inspecting work on sewer plants located at various sites around Houston that were being rehabilited. After those plants were refurbished I was then assigened to the project of inspecting the construction on Monroe Dr. from Beltway 8 to Fuqua. This included all uderground ( ie storm sewer, sewer, water. fiber optic etc. ) and all above ground work including concrete pours. After the Monroe Rd. project was over I took another few years off and then went to work for Versa Infrastructure inspecting various projects for Harris County Toll Road Authority on Beltway 8 between I45 south and 288. This included concrete replacement in various lanes of traffic. sinage replacement. parking lot expansion and landscaping. After that and as of now I am back to working on little projects in my shop again
