Light of Learning Award

This award is given by the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend to an outstanding teacher who has been employed for more than two years and meets the following criteria:  Acts in a Christ-like manner, is knowledgeable of subject matter and best practices in teaching, motivates students, is involved in school activities, and relates well with students.  Students, parents, and faculty members cast their ballots in early October.

Parents noted that Mr. Rosenbaum has a rapport with the students and a way of connecting with them so they want to do well in class.  They stated that this teacher truly cares about students and is a Christ-like role model for everyone.

Colleagues wrote that this teacher is "loved by the students because he loved them first."  Mr. Rosenbaum is able to balance concern for each student with a creative approach to instruction.  He is a life-long learner himself, uses best practices in the classroom, and has shared these with other teachers.  He also does activities with students after school and outside of the classroom on a regular basis.  Colleagues also commented that his teaching style "has the students learning the material while enjoying their time in the classroom."  This winning teacher is well-known for his smile, kind words, and welcoming ways.

Students commented that this instructor is a great motivator who relates to all of the students. They also report that this teacher "inspires them because he truly loves and enjoys teaching."  the words engaging, encouraging, caring, interesting, understanding, and patient were used frequently on the ballots.  Other students wrote that this individual keeps his classes on task and engaged while making class fun.  He is "very patient and willing to help student with homework and quizzes."  It is obvious to the students that he enjoys what he is doing
