Basic Police Recruit Instructor teaching class instructions in Methods of Patrol, Patrol Procedures, Hazmat, Field Training Program, Physical Training, ASP Baton Training, and Handcuffing Techniques. Responsible for making the departments Officer's award ribbon racks for class A uniforms. During my time on the streets in patrol as an FTO, I trained new Officers in the Field Training Program (FTO) which was four months long as they become one man units. I also trained as a Critical Incident Officer (CIT) responding to all mental consumer calls. On the street at Tillman precinct conducted preliminary investigations at scenes of major crimes. Patrolled assigned areas to prevent and detect roadway crimes. Conducted witness interviews and gathered details regarding incidents to determine best course of action. Secured crime scenes, gathered evidence, and questioned witnesses. Apprehended offenders and conducted interviews and interrogations. Responded immediately to reports of automobile accidents and criminal activity, calling for additional support as necessary. Apprehended suspects, read Miranda Rights, and transported offenders to jail. Gathered necessary information for court appearances and testified as witness under oath in court. Patrolled assigned areas to check homes, businesses, and public roads for signs of disturbance. Investigated and reported crimes, accidents, offenses, and damage to property. Issued traffic citations and electronic tickets for violations of traffic laws. Talked regularly with citizens to establish rapport and become familiar presence in the area. Answered emergency calls for help from citizens and business owners. Enforced traffic laws and ordinances through visual observation and radar speed detection. Recorded facts to prepare reports documenting incidents and activities.
