Additional Information

Starting in 2002, I began a career with Vulcan Materials (originally Florida Rock) as a loader operator. In 2003, I quickly began to take on additional tasks, which included serving as the grounds man, a floater, and being the sole maintenance worker. Due to high turnover of plant managers and supervisors between 2004-2006, I ended up overseeing the pit, plant, and shop for the Springfield location. I would often work from sun up to sundown, typically 6 days a week along with occasional Sundays, as this was necessary to have the quarry run efficiently and effectively. Additionally, I would assist with the plant at the Richmond location as needed. After changes occurred within the company and the specific needs of our quarry varied, I worked alongside the supervisor to run the pit and plant in order to keep some rock on the ground. Furthermore, I began to help with numerous projects for our electrical group, the QC department, and the IT department. Starting in 2012, I began to run the scales and operate the loader at my quarry location, as well as build labs and scale houses for other Vulcan quarries. Additionally, I began to work with local first response groups to assist with providing training opportunities for their crews. I work with multiple agencies from neighboring counties (Henrico, Richmond, Chesterfield, and Hanover) to provide training and scenarios for critical situations that may potentially be encountered in their line of work. Some of the community groups I have developed a strong rapport with included the Henrico TRT Team, the Ceva Team (combined rescue crews from surrounding communities), the Henrico TRT Dive Team, the Virginia State Police Dive Teams from all 7 divisions, and the Henrico SWAT Team. While this provides these agencies with imperative training, it also serves as a community outreach opportunity for Vulcan.
