David Spitzer

Directed the Athletic Bands at UNCP including Marching and Pep Band Ensembles. Served as the Saxophone Professor. Taught many of the Instrumental Music Education Courses to both undergraduate and graduate music students. Served as Asscocoate Direrctor of the University Wind Ensemble and University Concert Bands.

• Planned 25 concert or athletic band performances yearly and marketed concerts to students, parents and general public.
• Inventoried, maintained, repaired and purchased new instruments, uniforms and gear for department.
• Planned and implemented travel of the bands to numerous show venues and planned transportation and lodging for 145 musicians.
• Organized and implemented exhibition performances including Magic Kingdom Disney World, Universal Studios,Orlando. Illuminated Holiday Parade in Norfolk, Va, and Bands of America Regional Marching Band Competition in Winston Salem, NC.
• Maintained studio of 12 [saxophone] instrument students in preparation for their junior and senior recitals and performance competitions.
• Collaborated with performers and producers to determine and achieve desired sound for production.
• Attended regular practices and private lessons to hone skills.
• Directed groups at rehearsals and live or recorded performances to achieve desired effects such as tonal and harmonic balance dynamics, rhythm, and tempo.

Served as the music store educational representative to public and private music programs all over central and southwest Ohio.

Sold and delivered muiscal instruments and accessory supplies and equipment to the music programs in the schools.

Set up and implemented the recruitment programs, parent meetings, rent to own, and upgrade instrument purchases for the above mentioned schools.

Served as a music education consultant for the band, orchestra, and choir programs in the schools.

Organized instrument repair programs in the schools, including pick-up, transport and repair between Kincaid's Music and the schools.

Encouraged the growth and retention of music programs in the schools.

• Built a band program at Bellbrook High School that had 1/3 of the student population enrolled in the various band and choral ensembles.
• Directed Marching Bands that achieved 5 Bands of America Grand National Class A Championships and a Finalist Band in 2000.
• Served as president of the Mid-States Marching Band Association while Director at Bellbrook.
• Was music director of marching and concert bands, chamber music ensembles, pep band, pit orchestras for 13 Broadway Muiscal productions.
• Taught Advanced Placement Music Theory Course.
