Primary responsibilities include budgeting, development of Policies and Procedures that are in accordance with "Best Practices", patrolling the City of Parkersburg, answering calls for service, conducting thorough investigations and interviews as well as responding to medical calls.

As the Senior Sergeant and second in command to the Chief of Police. Responsibilities included assuming command of the department in the absence of the Chief, responding to town while off-duty for call outs, reviewing officer reports, routine patrol, scheduling, researching and purchasing of new vehicles / equipment, enforce department rules and regulations , policy and procedures as well disciplinary actions, firearms program supervisor, and field training officer coordinator which includes acclimating new officers to the department's culture.

Responsibilities encompassed residential patrol / community policing, drug and DWI detection / apprehension, motor vehicle enforcement, training of new officers, instruction of CPR / AED, firearms instructor, and radar instructor.
