DAVID L. MAZO

St. Louis,MO

Summary

I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. I have 4 children and 11 grandchildren. I spend my free time with them and working on music. My background includes being a musician, teacher, sound engineer, transportation scheduler, dispatcher, driver, and small business owner. My biggest strength is my ability to organize, coordinate, and come up with ways to simplify in order to do more with less. Music, art, and education are the areas I most like to work in. Any creative environment I’m at home with.

Work History

Logistics Coordinator

JED Transportation
Hazelwood, MO
01.2017 - Current
  • JED Transportation is a premium passenger transportation service. Their fleet includes sedans, SUVs, limousines, buses, party buses, and motor coaches. JED services locally and nationally.
  • I put together and assign the daily routes, drivers, and the vehicles they will be driving. I schedule as many as 200 transfers a day. Outside of mapping and GPS experience is a necessity in this position.

Owner-Operator

Self-Employed
St. Louis, MO
01.2004 - 01.2017
  • In the summer of 2004 I became an owner-operator in the transportation industry. I bought a 2003 Ford Excursion and started building up a business transporting passengers to and from the airport, performances, dinner, and more. I moved vehicles from state to state, made personal deliveries, drove classic cars to special events, etc. I did not advertise. My name and phone number were passed around by my customers. After 13 years I decided it was time to change. I was hired by JED transportation and shut down my business.

Limo Driver

Premo Limousine / Clayton Coach
St. Louis, MO
01.1999 - 01.2004
  • I was recently divorced when my son moved in with me. Driving for a limousine company gave me the flexibility I needed for a soon to be teenager. I drove sedans, SUVs and stretch limousines. I also used this time to learn the transportation business.

Independent Sound Engineer

Self-Employed
St Louis, MO
01.1986 - 01.1999
  • During this time I worked independently around the St. Louis area. I wrote and sold commercial music. I worked in local recoding studios recording and mixing small bands, and I ran live sound. I’ve worked in buildings ranging from banquet halls to 2000 plus seating with very poor acoustics. I’ve had to think “outside the box” many times when setting up because of the acoustics. Low ceilings, high ceilings, bounce, low end frequencies, stage noise, crowd noise... My favorite compliment was when a comment was made live, on stage, in front of an audience. “You know you have a good soundman when you don’t know he’s there.”

Sound Engineer

Joyce Meyer Ministries
St. Louis, MO
01.1984 - 01.1986
  • I started working for Joyce Meyer in the summer of 1984. I was responsible for recording and editing her daily radio broadcast, setting up and running the sound at her meetings, overseeing her tape sales, and maintaining and repairing the equipment. I worked solo in this job. Timing was important since there were daily deadlines and meetings. I was never late sending out a broadcast and I was set up on time for each meeting. I enjoyed working with Joyce and everyone there but my job was taking me away from home too much. I was married with two children. I gave a 30 day notice and resigned in the summer of 1986.

Teacher

Life Christian School
St. Louis, MO
01.1982 - 01.1984
  • This was my first job out of college. My wife and I taught general music grades 1 - 9. My wife taught grades 1 through 6 and I taught grades 7 - 9. The two of us were responsible for the Christmas program and other events throughout the school year. Along with teaching music I also taught a general history course and a bible course. After 2 years the school, which was a private school, decided to seek accreditation. Since I was not a certified teacher I would have had to go back to school. Our second child was on the way. I couldn’t afford to stop working in order to go to school so I had to resign.
