Leadership activities

  • Unit Fall Prevention and Injury Champion- I represented my unit by participating in the hospital-wide fall and injury committee. The focus of this committee is educating and retraining staff on policy and evidenced based best practices. I met monthly with fellow champions to develop initiatives that were later introduced to the Unit-based Shared Governance Counsels for implementation. In this role I was responsible for providing updates to the unit about the policies on restraints and reeducating about the different types of restraints. The goal of the committee is to prevent harm to the patient and improve patient outcomes.
  • Unit Magnate Champion-In coalition with other unit magnate champions and nursing leadership, we worked together on this committee to narrate and highlight the different ways in which the Memorial Baylor Scott and White nurses embodied a magnate hospital. In 2021 this committee helped Baylor Scott White Memorial Hospital attain Magnate Status.
  • Clinical Coach- train new nurse graduates on company policies and standards of nursing practice. Demonstrated the proper way to provide patient care , to create care plans and patient education, navigate the electronic health record, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary teams to reduce lengths of stay.
