Experienced Creative Art Teacher with a deep understanding of various art theories and principles. Engaging and energetic professional with an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and valuable university experience in Philadelphia, PA and Taos, NM. As a practicing professional artist and educator with a strong foundation in fine arts and liberal arts. Formal studies at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico provided a comprehensive education in philosophy, mathematics, science, languages, and music. Further honed artistic skills at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy and through apprenticeships in New York City before completing MFA. Recognized with awards including the "Faculty Choice One Year Out Exhibition" and museum acquisition for the permanent collection at the Museum of the Pennsylvania Academy. Contributed to the academic community as a professor and mentor. Have received numbers other awards for work created. Have pieces in collections both national and international. Owner and operator of the Read Lockhart Gallery in Taos, NM for the past 8 years alongside wife, Kristel Parada Saavedra, an accomplished designer and photographer.
