Additional Information

I came here in 1973, then graduated in 1982, left for the service and was married and returned to Byron Bergen to raise my own family. I have always loved this area and the community is the best. I am very knowledgeable of the area and the families that reside here. I am hoping to be able to retire from here, it has been a great part of my life.

I started in transportation in 2002 as an aide, I rode the Rt 13 it was the academy students only. We picked them up at BOCES and then drove them directly to there homes. Then went on to Rt 7 with Donna Kraus and was an aide for her run, the following year I went to Rt 6 which was Millie Antinore's run as her bus aide, after that went to Rt 15 the BOCES /parochial run aide with Nancy Cofran. I was also an aide for a Mary Cariola student. I then realized that transportation is a place I wanted to be. So with Fidlema Mc Ginnity's help I started my training in September of 2005, I got my license and that's how it all began.

I started in the office after my Elementary run and before my Cafeteria job when Drew Doll was the Transportation Director. My duties included to answer the phones and take messages, call parents back, and let drivers know if there was a concern. I was able to use school tool program to input information regarding current bus routes, make changes due to parent request (transportation request). I also communicated with both the Elementary and High School with there needs of transportation. I was able to make the route up for the district prior to the new Transfinder, I would make all the summer runs, exam runs and after school runs. I also changed all the routes from Word to Excell to make it easier to make changes and to read. I also helped each year with the holiday distribution of the food baskets from Dick Sands and all the gifts for our students and siblings in the community, I divided the district and then made routes for our driver volunteers to follow to make it as smoothly as possible.

I was the helper for Sonya when Drew retired and had our replacement Director. I implemented all transportation request, assisted elementary on which buses our pre-k and our kindergarten students will be on so they could make the book bag tags. I also trained Bonnie Klein, and Christen Lang on how to use the school tool for the students in transportation. Also showed them how we made each of the routes up. I always made copies of transportation form to send to Elementary one for driver and one for our book we keep to have all the changes on hand. Had the drivers come in and I would update there routes and the times as needed. I would check the drivers mailboxes and see if they made any changes to there routes and if so I would make the corrections and put back in there folder. If a driver or parent had questions I would do my best to get an answer and get back to them soon as possible.

In June of 2021 I was the summer Supervisor for all the summer runs and was in charge of distributing routes and drivers/aides as needed. I also made up all the summer school runs according to the spread sheets that I was emailed from the Elementary and Jr. High schools, every week the students stayed the same oe we needed to add or remove students so that would alter the routes. Some routes had a midday so had to make sure we had that covered usually with a driver and an aide. Each of the drivers took a week off so had to make sure I had someone to sub for that time as well. I had a list of some drivers that said they would be able to sub, we had a driver call in and because there wasn't a sub available I stepped in and filled that spot, that's what I was expected to do fill all the need's to have a smooth operation. During this time I was there without Jim and Jaime her flight was cancelled on no fault to her, and Jim was on vacation. Everything went smoothly and no problems at all. We had a great summer everything went according to the needs of the district, and the Byron, and Bergen Rec programs.

I really hope I have shown how much I would love to be considered for the job Head Bus Driver.
