I was awarded Teacher of the Year by my peers while working for Cedar Hill Independent School District. Staff and parents were allowed to write about why they felt I deserved this award once I had been chosen for this honor and some of the things I remember most were the comments, not about my teaching but about my relationships with my students and coworkers. I feel very humbled by how many people commented on my ability to connect with others and make them feel valued, loved, and equal. It was a true honor.
