As an Occupational Therapy Assistant at Language and Literacy Academy for learning, my goal is to provide each student with the knowledge and support pertaining to job skills so that every student is given the opportunity and potential to successfully thrive with a solid foundation within the community. I begin with the fundamental skills of : Professional Development, Money skills ; identifying and counting, budgeting ,online banking , and keyboarding skills. Obtaining these skills is paramount in terms of searching and maintaining a job. Students conduct popular online search engines to find available job postings. Support is given to every student with filling out job applications and resumes as needed. Students are given mock interview to gain real work experience and enhance communication skills. Self advocacy and Executive skills are also addressed. Every student is unique, therefore, assistant/support level varies accordingly as needed.

As a student in the OTA program,I completed my level one fieldwork at Heritage Park for 8 weeks. During my fieldwork, I was able to gain knowledge of documentation,carry out interventions, and follow safety protocols under the supervision of the COTA.

As a hostess my duties were to welcome each guest with a warm and welcoming smile.I directed each customer in the appropriate waiting station. Seat according to the rotation chart, and state the daily menu specials. I also contributed help where needed to maintain great customer service.

Environmental Service Aide

As an Environmental Service Aide my duties were to reduce the spread of infection by cleaning each room with a sanitizing solution. Sweeping and mopping were done daily,vacuuming, dusting hallways,and making sure common area such as the nurse's stations were presentable. I was also in charge of performing discharges by cleaning patient room in an efficient and timely manner.
