
Experienced former Social Studies, English, and P.E. teacher and Athletic Director. Trained and experienced in managing a classroom with a diverse student population, as well as educating students with different ability levels. Have worked with grades Kindergarten to 12th. Flexible and committed to helping students achieve to their highest potential both in their academic, athletic pursuits, and to succeed in life beyond school. Taught all subjects for 7th and 8th grades, excluding music, ensuring comprehensive education.
I taught World History, World Geography, U.S. History, Government/Economics, as well Personal finance, Archery, and Culinary art electives. I spent a significant amount of time filling in and teaching both P.E. and Religion.
I encouraged critical thinking when it came to understanding the past actions of others, and how those actions are still having an effect on us today.
I encouraged finding similarities between our cultures that we belong to and the cultures of other countries and peoples.
I have through trips outside the school sought to help the students see the concepts that we talk about in class be put into real life application.
As the activity director I oversaw all activity areas. Making sure they had all needed supplies, materials, and knowledge to be able to most effectively run their areas. I also coordinated any large group activities that were planned throughout the summer for both campers and staff members.
I worked in close contact with the camp director and assistant director in creating schedules, administrative duties, and getting campers registered for classes.
In both the summer of 2016 and 2018 I was in charge of overseeing the camps waterfront swimming area, as well as the kayaking and canoeing areas. I made sure the lifeguards had the materials they needed to be able to effectively teach swimming and maintain a safe and fun environment.
I taught 10th, 11th, and 12th grade English. Focusing on a variety of areas ranging from literature looking at different eras of literature including both English and American poetry, novels, and short stories. Writing- students write a variety of different types of essays as well as doing creative writing and poetry.
I also taught 9th grade religion class using the encounter curriculum. In my class I emphasized the importance of creating a personal relationship with God.
I was also the junior high boys basketball, soccer and assistant high school baseball coach.
I worked as an RA for 3 years. In which time I was tasked with keeping the day to day operations of the dorm running smoothly. I was in charge of scheduling work shifts and helping to enforce dorm rules. We also would do special events, such as movie nights, pancake dinners and BBQs, and I was a part of organizing and helping those events to run smoothly. During the summer while I was not at camp we worked on dorm renovations and improvements to the dorm building itself.
