Work History

Principal Software Engineer/Manager

Qualcomm Technologies
San Jose, USA
06.2011 - Current
  • Architect / lead / designer of WLAN driver data-path for 5 generations of WIFI solutions from 802.11n to 802.11bn, supporting speeds from 150 Mbps to 10 Gbps – leading a team of more than 30 people across the globe in this capacity.
  • Led design / architecture of WLAN driver to deliver product throughput KPI’s with optimal power and latency across multiple chipsets and multiple classes of product family.
  • Re-architected SW to optimize CPU/memory and cache usage for performance and latency path.
  • Led design & implementation an elaborate & rich telemetry framework from WLAN SW & HW, currently used in ML training & inferencing, debugging and feature enablement decisions for multiple product lines.
  • Led the architecture decision to adapt RF Tree & Auto-encoder based ML model for advanced traffic classification on the mobile handset leading to reduction of >15% connectivity power, and > 20% average latency reduction for low latency traffic.
  • Drove the deployment of NN model for boosting WLAN transmit power to the maximum in keeping with regulations.
  • Currently leading an exploration of more advanced models (Transformers / GRU’s) for increasing efficiency and reducing training times.
  • Have worked with HW team to propose several HW changes for next generation SOC’s to improve overall WIFI performance and power (TSO, FISA etc.).
  • Currently leading an exploration of more advanced models (Transformers / GRU’s) for increasing efficiency and reducing training times.
  • Have driven significant AUC reduction of the next generation WIFI SOC’s, by driving a SWHW design which scales all the way from the premium tiers to the lowest tiers of products.

Staff Software Engineer

Brocade Communication Systems
San Jose, USA
01.2007 - 05.2011
  • Lead a team of 3 engineers to architect, design and implement Linux Driver for Brocade Converged Network Adapter.
  • Designed / Implemented advanced Networking offload features for the driver such as RSS (Rx Side Scaling), software LRO/GRO (Large/Generic Receive Offload), Dynamic Interrupt Moderation, Tx side QOS (through multiple Tx Queues).
  • Lead engineer to drive profiling and optimization and enable line-rate SW performance.
  • Primary author / maintainer of Brocade’s Link Layer driver in upstream kernel.

Member of Technical Staff

Silverback Systems Inc.
Campbell, USA
09.2004 - 12.2006
  • Designed and implemented a FreeBSD (4.5) based IPv6 stack for a complete TOE IPv6 driver.
  • Provided full support for running dual stack (both IPv4 & IPv6) on iSNAP card. Solved several issues faced as a result of dual stack support.
  • Co-designed and implemented an Embedded Control Plane on the iSNAP2110 (MIPS based) processor for connection setup, management and configuration for Silverback’s TOE.
  • Implemented a PAL (Platform Abstraction layer) for easy driver portability across platforms.
  • Acquired by Brocade

Software Engineer

Nokia Networks
Mountain View, USA
08.2000 - 07.2004
  • Designed, developed the socket interface for the Presto TCP/IP stack and profiled the same for optimal performance & scaling for Broadcom 1250 MIPS processor, as well as for IPC for inter-card applications.
  • Designed and implemented 'persistent' & 'highly available' ACL & RMAP modules for IPv6 over BSD IPv6 stack.
  • Implemented several IPv6 network applications & protocols for inter-card functionality.
