The start of this group came about because my mom was diagnosed with the disease and there wasn’t a support group in my area.

Activities

Alzheimer's Association, Family Caregiver Support Group Coordinator, 09/01/14, 04/01/15, I hosted a small group of 5-10 caregivers monthly, implemented ground rules and mediated any conflicts that arose. Recognized when an issue(s) was beyond the group's ability to help and suggested alternative resources. Met with leaders of other social groups and churches to inform them of the group and schedule a presentation. Conducted presentations concerning the disease and how it affects the person and their loved one. Solicited speakers to make presentations to the group. Used marketing strategies to make the public aware of the support group through radio, newspaper, and local community calendars.
