I worked with the special Olympics several years early in my career. I have been involved in walking fo cancer patients as well as participating in the heart foundation. I lead a student dance team and we performed for the local high school games. I lead and organized student field trips. Was a member of the "Sunshine Committee" and a member of the SCEA.

I was awarded "Teacher of the Year in 2011. I mentored several student teachers, lead a reading companionship with high school students, and mentored several practice teachers throughout my career. I also recognized and awarded one of my students for the "HTC Reel Kids" Award. She showed outstanding leadership through physical challenges. She was an extraordinary student and was featured on the local educational news.
