I have farmed for 35 years where I have raised Registered Hereford Cattle. We have shown successfully with a bull that won the Nationals in Denver Colorado in 2003. I have been on the same farm for 24 years and I am located in Gamaliel Ky. I went back to school later than most and finished my Animal Science degree at WKU, I later got my Master of Arts in Teaching with 2 certifications, one in special education and another in elementary education. But my love has always been farming.
I was nominated for the Juanita C. Bayless award and won my senior year at W.K.U. The award was given to someone who had overcome obstacles in their life and still worked and got their diplomas. I was shot in the back in 2011 and it broke my back and punctured my lung and I went through several surgeries because of this over the next few years. But I am not one to let something get me down so I went back to school and finished my degree and two of my toughest professors at W.K.U. were the ones that nominated me for this award and both have given me letters of recommendations.
